On the morning of February 19th, the commencement ceremony of major projects in Qingdao Free Trade Zone · Sino-German Ecopark for the year 2024 was held at the construction site of the Haier Strauss Water Purification Technology Industrial Park. 16 major projects with a total investment of about 7.3 billion yuan began construction. The major projects under construction cover seven industry sectors including integrated circuits, intelligent manufacturing, gene technology, and so on. With large scales, good expected benefits, and strong driving abilities, these projects will further enhance the development vitality of the Free Trade Zone, accumulate development momentum, and inject strong momentum into the stable recovery and sustained development of the economy throughout the year.
The integrated circuit industry is a key area for Qingdao to cultivate new driving forces and gain new competitive advantages in the future. The semiconductor advanced equipment R&D and Manufacturing center project is a key equipment project in the integrated circuit industry chain. The project covers a total area of 90 acres, with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan and a total construction area of 92,000 ㎡. It mainly produces atomic layer deposition equipment and ion implantation equipment in the semiconductor field, and provides systematic equipment products and technical service solutions with independent and controllable core key technologies, solving the domestic stranglehold technological problems in the semiconductor equipment field. The project is expected to achieve an annual output value of 1.5 billion yuan after put into production.
Since its listing in November 2022, Qingdao Integrated Circuit Industrial Park, located in Sino-German Ecopark, has closely focused on the requirements of the “Five ONEs Project”, built an important cluster highland of integrated circuit industry in China and fully promoted the high-quality development of the industrial park. Havinig achieved 28 cluster industrial chain projects, the industrial park has a year-on-year growth of 24% in fixed assets investment and 500% in operating revenue.

According to the requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and Government, Sino-German Ecopark has advanced the layout and development of the gene technology industry, creating a source of innovation. According to the "Implementation Plan for Future Industrial Development in Qingdao", the time and space gene valley project located in Sino-German Ecopark has been officially included in the core area of Qingdao's gene and cell industry, and will be one of the key cultivation areas for future industrial clusters in Shandong Province. The landing and construction of the crop science research and development headquarters project will accelerate the pace of China's independent patented pesticide creation, and promote the global sales and promotion of China's patented green new pesticide formulation products. At present, the area has gathered 36 core competitive enterprises such as BGI Intelligent Manufacturing and HP Pharmaceutical. 10 companies including BGI Qingdao and King-a-root have been selected as key enterprises in the city, accounting for 2/3 of Qingdao's total. 6 projects have been selected as key projects in the city's gene industry, accounting for 6/7 of Qingdao's total. A total of 26 gene industry projects have been introduced, with a total investment of over 12 billion yuan and an annual output value exceeding 4 billion yuan.
As an traditionally advantageous industry of Sino-German Ecopark, intelligent manufacturing has been continuously improved in terms of quality and quantity through the construction of major projects in recent years: Intelligent manufacturing base of Internet, operated by Siemens Innovation Center of Industry 4.0, has been put into operation; The washing machine interconnection factory was awarded the world's first 5G application demonstration "Lighthouse Factory"; The main chain projects of Weichai R&D Center, Diehl, and BWT Haier Intelligent Water Purification Equipment have been completed and put into operation.
Among the projects, the Haier Strauss Water Purification Technology Industrial Park project is one of the key projects of Haier Group's layout and construction of "Water intelligence manufacturing industry". The total investment of the project is 200 million dollars, covering an area of about 104 acres and a total construction area of about 130,000 ㎡. The plan is to build a production base for household water purification equipment, mainly producing kitchen appliances and integrated heat purifiers with the world's leading MAZE water purification technology as the core Desktop computers, supporting filter cartridges, injection molding components, and other water purification equipment products, with the main products certified by the American Water Quality Association (WQA) in the United States. The project has an annual production capacity of 2.6 million complete machines and over 10 million filter cartridges. After reaching production, it is expected that the annual terminal sales will reach 1.2 billion yuan and the tax revenue will be 90 million yuan.
