According to data from the Provincial General Administration of Customs, in the first quarter of 2022, the foreign trade of Shandong increased by 13.7% on a year-on-year basis, slightly higher than that of the whole country, which was 13.0%. In the first quarter, the import and export of goods was 710.7 billion yuan, accounting for about 7.5% of the total foreign trade of China.
Exports rose by 22.2% to 417.9 billion yuan, significantly faster than imports, which rose by only 3.4% to 292.7 billion yuan.
Statistics show that the foreign trade of Shandong has grown steadily with its most important trading partners. Trade with ASEAN countries increased by 37.2%, and that with other RCEP members and countries along the Silk Road increased by 20.9% and 25.1% respectively. Besides, about 35% of the total trade took place with countries along the Silk Road.
