On the morning of February 8, Qingdao Free Trade Zone • Sino-German Ecopark held a ceremony to start the construction of key projects in spring. The construction of 25 key projects with a total investment of 44.6 billion yuan officially started, indicating the beginning of a tough battle of advancing more projects.

Each of the 13 projects in the Sino-German Ecopark has an investment of more than 50 million yuan. The projects cover fields of advanced manufacturing, life and health industries, "Four new economies" and others, all of which are "top ten" industries in Shandong. The technologies of the projects are leading the industries and the innovation effect is outstanding as well. The start of construction of the project will accelerate the agglomeration of projects, industries, and growth drivers, further enhancing the vitality of the area and accumulating development potential.

All elements and services act around the projects. In 2022, with a determination of fighting against and winning a decisive battle and taking the beginning as a sprint, Qingdao Free Trade Zone • Sino-German Ecopark will promote 50 annual key investment projects as well as 50 projects that to be completed, all of which will promote the leap-forward improvement of the construction of the area. Sino-German Ecopark will take the opportunity of the concentrated start of construction of key projects in the spring, take institutional innovation as the core, insist on expanding opening up to the outside world, focus on promoting better and faster development of key industries, and contribute to the comprehensive construction of Qingdao into a modern international metropolis.

Brief introduction of some key projects:

1. Gene Valley Project

The project has a total investment of 1.58 billion yuan, covers an area of about 86 mu (1mu=666.67㎡), and has a total construction area of about 210,000 square meters. With the "Research and production service" of gene technology as the core, it focuses on the innovation and iteration of gene sequencing equipment as well as raw materials and consumables, and promotes gene technology in the applications of precision medicine, companion diagnostics, cell therapy, biosynthesis and others. It will build production lines for genetic testing reagents and consumables for birth defects, tumors, infectious diseases and so on, as well as genetic science big data centers and high-standard clinical testing laboratories, etc. Gene valley project will support upstream and downstream enterprises of BGI to make contributions on the agglomeration and development of the gene technology industry.

2. Weichai Power Global Future Technology R&D Center Project

The project is invested and constructed by Weichai Power with a total investment of 3 billion yuan. It will mainly build R&D bases, pilot test bases, etc., carry out R&D innovation in cutting-edge technologies and new business fields, implement industrial applications in various fields such as the Group's new energy key components and advanced lithium batteries, establish the ecosystem of global high-end R&D, experiment, pilot test as well as application promotion, and introduce various technical experts and R&D talents to create a gathering place for high-end talents.

The R&D base covers an area of 29 mu with buildings of about 42,000 square meters already constructed, which can meet the needs of 2,000 people for collaborative research and development.

The pilot test base covers an area of 33 mu, and will build a new technology research and development laboratory and a pilot test base.

3. Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing Technician College Project

The total investment of the project is 1.4 billion yuan, covering an area of 180 acres. The Technician College adopts the structure of a school-enterprise cooperative secondary industry college, and implements the "Dual system and three places" talent training model of "School-enterprise dual main bodies, three places collaborative education". It fully implements the localization of the German dual system education model, and cultivates high-end technical and skilled talents for Qingdao with the latest vocational education standards and evaluation standards. The school has 6,000 undergraduate students, and can provide and retain about 2,000 technical and skilled talents for Qingdao West Coast New Area every year.

4. Korea Haios Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Platform Project

The total investment of the project is 150 million yuan, covering an area of 22 mu. It mainly engages in the production of home appliances, automotive industry components, mold R&D and manufacturing, modular assembly products as well as cleaning and disinfection equipment. The project cooperates with Haier Industrial Intelligence Research Institute to build a benchmarking demonstration enterprise of intelligent manufacturing. After the completion of the project, the annual sales income will be 200 million yuan, and the annual profit and tax is expected to be about 9 million yuan.
