On August 27, Yutaka Yokoi, Japanese Ambassador to China led a delegation to visit Qingdao Japan International Business Club in Shandong FTZ Qingdao Area. Vice Mayor Zhu Peiji met with the ambassador and delivered an address in the meeting. Zhao Shiyu, Deputy Secretary of Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of Qingdao Area accompanied and presided over the meeting.

The Ambassador and his delegation were shown aroundQingdao Japan International Business Club and learned in detail about exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan since the establishment of the club, as well as the planning and construction of China-Japan (Qingdao) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Area and China-Japan-ROK Consumption Zone. A meeting on China-Japan (Qingdao) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Area was held, at which the two sides exchanged views on the planning and construction of the demonstration area and industrial cooperation. Representatives from Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., and Qingdao West Coast New Area Free Trade Logistics Center, etc., attended the meeting.

The Ambassador highly recognized the achievements made in the construction of Qingdao Japan International Business Club and China-Japan (Qingdao) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Area. He said that when he met with Secretary Wang Qingxian on October 2019, they reached a preliminary consensus on building Qingdao China-Japan Cooperation Hub to support the development of Shandong FTZ Qingdao Area, and today he was very glad to see that the preliminary consensus had been implemented so quickly. He added that, China’s consumer market had huge potentials, and the economies of China and Japan were highly complementary. He hoped that the two sides can combine their advantages to cooperate with each other at a high level, in depth and in various fields in the future, and they will make the best efforts to support the construction of China-Japan (Qingdao) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Area and create new heights in bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
