“This is QIECZ” is a special program coproduced by QIECZ and Qingdao Economic Radio. Dr. Santasree Banerjee and Dr. Kuang Shan from BGI Qingdao Institute were invited to attend the live broadcast and talked about their research and work. 

Dr. Santasree Banerjee was born in New Delhi, the capital of India. He has a master’s degree in Human/Medical Genetics of University of Calcutta. He obtained a doctorate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Zhejiang University in 2014. He is currently senior researcher/project manager of biomedical informatics. 

For more than a decade, Dr. Santasree Banerjee has focused on basic research on medical genetics and has discovered over 30 gene mutation sites related to new diseases based on tools of genomics, molecular biology and cytology. His research has provided theoretical foundation for figuring out the pathogenesis of 10 plus diseases including hereditary tumors, muscular dystrophy and acute intermittent porphyria.

Dr. Kuang Shan from Institute of Oceanology of Chinese Academy of Sciences is a postdoctor in tumor pharmacology. Her research focuses on the discovery and working mechanism of antineoplastic activity of small molecular compounds and marine polysaccharides. She has rich research experience in tumor pharmacology and tumor signal pathways. She began her research work on heterogeneity of CRC at BGI Qingdao Institute in April 2018, and was selected Urgently Needed Expert of West Coast New Area in December 2018.
