As the scale of Qingdao's automobile industry has reached "100 Billion Yuan Level" in recent years, the theme of “How to Realize the Transformation of Qingdao's Automobile Industry from Large to Strong” has become a new topic.

Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology publicly solicited opinions on the Strategic Plan of Qingdao International Automobile City Industrial Development (2022-2035) (Draft for Comment), which was a reply trying to answer this question.

According to the Plan, Qingdao will draw on the development concepts of international and domestic advanced automobile industry clusters such as Stuttgart Auto City, Shanghai Auto City, Chengdu Auto City, etc., and base itself on the existing industrial development and urban construction foundation of Jimo Automobile Industry New City and Laixi New Energy Automobile Industry Cluster, to build Qingdao International Automobile City.

The Plan proposed phased goals:

By 2025, Qingdao International Automobile City will achieve an operating income of 200 billion yuan from the automobile industry. The production capacity of complete vehicles will exceed 1 million units, and the output of complete vehicles will exceed 1.3 million units. The innovative industrial element system will be formed, and high-end talents will be gathered. The soft and hard environment will both be mature.

By 2035, the operating income of the automobile industry will reach 500 billion yuan. The production capacity of complete vehicles will exceed 1.6 million, and the output of complete vehicles will reach 2 million. An international urban pattern and city brand will be formed, attracting the exchange and interaction of achievements in the global automobile industry.

Qingdao, which has embarked on a new journey, regards the real economy as the focus of economic development, and proposes the goal of achieving a total industrial output value exceeding 1.5 trillion yuan in 2024, taking new energy vehicles as one of the 24 key industrial chains for development. The automobile industry, which is developing rapidly and seeking greater development, will become a strong support for the realization of new goals of Qingdao.
