Regensburg’s First Representative Office in China Opens in
Sino-German Ecopark

People.cn Qingdao February 21 (By Liu Yingjie) On February 21, the opening ceremony of Regensburg City Exhibition was held in the Green Pavilion of Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark.
Representatives of Regensburg Economic Promotion Board, Regensburg Business Council and universities addressed the opening session and introduced the favorable location of Regensburg, the purpose of establishing the Qingdao office and relevant information about universities. The exhibition will last till March 10 and citizens can visit for free. Hundreds of pictures show the unique appeal of Regensburg from six angles including city construction, economic development, ecological environment, education and medical service, sports, culture and leisure.

Ms. Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer, mayor of the city of Regensburg and Mr. Zhu Tieyi, head of Sino-German Ecopark Administrative Committee inaugurated the office at the unveiling. This is Regensburg‘s first representative office in China. It will serve as Regensburg’s gateway to Qingdao and China for further communication and exchanges. Ms. Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer said that Sino-German Ecopark is a shining example of close business cooperation between China and Germany. Its speed and quality of progress is impressive. It is a wise choice to open the office in the Ecopark. The office is expected to bring whole new experience of intensified economic cooperation and promote friendly exchanges of Regensburg with the Ecopark, Qingdao and China.
Sino-German Ecopark and Regensburg has close exchanges and cooperation. On May 16, 2016, Det Dharminger, vice mayor of Regensburg led a delegation to visit Sino-German Ecopark; and the two sides signed the Cooperation Agreement between Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark and Regensburg Science and Technology Park. In July 2018, Sino-German Union Group, an investment vehicle under Sino-German Ecopark, and Regensburg Science and Technology Park managed by Regensburg municipality signed an MOU to promote deeper cooperation in economy, science and technology.

Regensburg is located in Bavaria, a southern state in Germany. It has a population of about 150,000 and an urban area of 80.6 km2. Regensburg is known as the pearl on Danube and is one of the most prosperous and dynamic regions in Germany. As a city with nearly 2,000 years of history, its ancient district was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2006.
