On August 25, the opening ceremony for the German Wirth Building Materials China Headquarters Project was held at the Sino‑German Ecopark in Qingdao. Alexander Wirth, Chairman of the Board of Wirth Group, Zhang Yunqing, Member of the Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Qingdao Sino‑German Ecopark, and Michael Köhler, Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Shanghai, attended the opening event.

Founded more than 210 years ago, Wirth Group is a typical German hidden‑champion enterprise focusing on the R&D and production of adhesives and sealants. With a total investment of 10 million US dollars, the newly‑commissioned German Wirth Building Materials China Headquarters Project integrates trade, R&D and production. Upon reaching full capacity, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of about 60 million yuan and annual import‑export volume of around 35 million yuan.

From the first inspection visit to Qingdao by Wirth’s senior management team in August 2025 to the official commissioning, the whole process including inspection docking, company registration, plant renovation and grand opening took only one year, setting a new record of “Qingdao Speed” for foreign‑funded projects.

Talking about the new factory in Qingdao, Alexander Wirth stated, “Today we are jointly opening a brand‑new chapter, a new chapter in Sino‑German cooperation. We are proud of this and full of expectations.”

As a demonstration zone for economic and trade cooperation jointly established by the Chinese and German governments, the Sino‑German Ecopark has deepened cooperation with Germany over the years and grown into a benchmark park for Sino‑German economic and trade exchanges. In 2025, it attracted 8 high‑quality German‑speaking enterprises. Up to now, a total of 78 German‑speaking enterprises have settled here, with total investment exceeding 550 million US dollars.
