On October 10, the 20th National Conference on Semiconductor and Integration Technology & Qingdao Integrated Circuit Industry Ecosystem Cooperation Conference was successfully held in the West Coast New Area. The event brought together industry experts, leading enterprises in the industrial chain and representatives from research institutions to discuss industrial coordination and jointly plan ecosystem co-construction. It promotes disciplinary development, technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the semiconductor sector, injecting innovative vitality and momentum into the development of China’s semiconductor and integrated circuit industry. During the event, Qingdao Pilot Free Trade Zone presented its progress in the integrated circuit industry.

As the core hub of the new "One Core, Two Wings" development framework for Qingdao’s integrated circuit industry, Qingdao Pilot Free Trade Zone has firmly undertaken the responsibilities of core leadership, core bearing and core empowerment in recent years. Leveraging its unique strengths including pilot reform, superimposed policies and open platforms, the zone has established a "1+2+N" development layout for the integrated circuit industry and built the Qingdao Integrated Circuit Industrial Park. Focusing precisely on the whole industrial chain covering chip design, advanced manufacturing, packaging & testing, equipment & materials and supporting services, it continuously introduces leading enterprises and fosters emerging players. The industrial supporting capacity, industrial foundation and innovation momentum keep improving, alongside rising industrial agglomeration, influence and competitiveness. Up to now, the industrial park has attracted 63 upstream and downstream industrial projects including those of Core Semiconductor, Sirui Intelligence, Naura Technology and Fangyi Technology, with a total investment of approximately 198.7 billion RMB. Covering the full industrial fields of design, manufacturing, packaging & testing, materials and equipment, the park has been listed among national key integrated circuit industrial parks for three consecutive years, laying a solid foundation for the accelerated start and iterative upgrading of Qingdao’s integrated circuit industry.

Developing advanced manufacturing is a vital mission entrusted by the state to Qingdao Pilot Free Trade Zone. Centered on the city’s "10+1" innovative industrial system, as the core carrier zone of Qingdao’s integrated circuit industry, the zone will deeply integrate into the national IC industrial layout and accelerate the construction of a key integrated circuit industrial cluster in Northern China. It will further amplify the unique advantages of free trade zones, take the "integration of four chains" — innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain — as the starting point to build, supplement, extend, strengthen and consolidate the industrial chain. It targets weak links in the industrial chain and vigorously introduces landmark and leading key industrial projects. The zone will increase service supply, optimize industrial services, strengthen factor guarantees and improve the industrial ecosystem to push forward core technology research, transformation of innovation achievements and aggregation of high-quality enterprises. It will enhance coordination and linkage, deepen functional collaboration with the city’s "two wings" and various industrial sectors to achieve differentiated development and joint efforts. The zone will fully boost the quality improvement, breakthrough acceleration and high-quality development of Qingdao’s integrated circuit industry, contributing Qingdao Free Trade strength to the coordinated upgrading of the full national integrated circuit industrial chain.
