On August 8, the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qingdao Area ("SDPFTZ Qingdao Area" for short) successfully hosted the "Summer of Chip & Chain" event. With the theme "Chip and Chain Synergy, Chip and Machine Coordination," this initiative aims to accelerate the integrated development of Qingdao's integrated circuit industry chain and implement strategies for chain extension, supplementation, and strengthening. Over 100 guests from governmental, corporate, and financial sectors convened to jointly explore the future of the integrated circuit industry.
Gao Shanwu, Deputy Secretary of the Qingdao West Coast New Area Working Committee and Director of the SDPFTZ Qingdao Area Management Committee, and Zhang Lin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Qingdao Municipal People's Government and Executive Director of the Qingdao High-Quality Investment Promotion Command Office, participated in the event and delivered speeches.
Gao Shanwu stated during his speech at the supply and demand matchmaking meeting that the field of integrated circuits is pivotal to national security and economic development. This event facilitated extensive discussions and collaborations within the integrated circuit industry, reflecting its goal of establishing an industrial ecosystem platform, while also underscoring Qingdao's commitment to advancing the integrated circuit industry. In recent years, Qingdao City has prioritized the growth of the integrated circuit sector, positioning it at the forefront of the city's top ten emerging industries and as a cornerstone of the "10+1" innovative industrial framework. With increased determination and effective measures, we aim to cultivate a supportive ecosystem for integrated circuit industry development, offering enhanced, efficient, and quality services, all to expedite the establishment of a leading hub for the northern region's integrated circuit industry.
Zhang Lin emphasized in his speech that the global integrated circuit sector stands at a pivotal moment of technological innovation and ecosystem restructuring. This period represents not only a critical milestone in industrial evolution but also a transformative opportunity for our nation to shift from being a "follower" to emerging as a "parallel contender" in this field. We anticipate that this event will further streamline communication and collaboration channels along the industrial chain, advance more innovative achievements to settle in Qingdao, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Qingdao's integrated circuit industry.
During the industrial exchange session, the integrated circuit industry working team comprehensively presented the development status of the park. Industry leaders such as Haier and Hisense released procurement demand scenarios focused on the semiconductor sector, while key enterprises such as SiEn and SRII shared their development results and supply chain collaboration intentions. Over 40 local core enterprises engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with over 30 companies interested in establishing operations in the area.
Sui Bin, a member of the SDPFTZ Qingdao Area Working Committee and Deputy Director of the SDPFTZ Qingdao Area Management Committee, Yuan Yingchun, Deputy Director of the Qingdao High-quality Investment Promotion Command, and other officials attended the related activities.
