A low-carbon fun run challenge began with a starting gun at the Qingdao Sino-German Eco Park in the Qingdao Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Qingdao FTZ), on May 25. Nearly 300 runners participated, traversing the green track of the Sino-German Eco Park and experiencing its ecological environment.
The track covers approximately 6 kilometers, starting and ending at Lixian School in the Sino-German Eco Park, and includes five checkpoints.
"To make the event more enjoyable and interactive, we set up 'checkpoint tasks' where runners collect exclusive stickers to place on their bibs. Upon collecting all the stickers, they can exchange them for a completion medal at the finish line," said an event organizer.
To improve participants' race experience, the volunteer service team provided support at supply stations along the track.
"Before the race, we trained our volunteers. All 35 volunteers were prepared, providing drinking water and energy supplies for the runners," said Lyv Ping, head of the volunteer service team.
In addition to race supplies, volunteers distributed checkpoint stickers, guided directions at intersections, and maintained order at the checkpoints, ensuring a safe and smooth race. To further support the event, rest areas were equipped with ambulances, AEDs, and a professional emergency medical team, offering comprehensive logistical support.
"We live in the Sino-German Eco Park, and having such an event at our doorstep, our whole family signed up to participate," said a participant surnamed Yu, who had just completed the full course. They cheered each other on to the finish line, receiving medals and enjoying the benefits of exercise.
