(I) A doctoral team from Qingdao-Europe Life Science Advanced Research Institute
It is led by Laurs Boren, a tenured professor in genetics of Aarhus University, Denmark, the holder of the patent for the first artificial pig cloning in the world, and the winner of “Friendship Award” from Chinese government. On November 6 when the 19th China Qingdao Blue Economic International Professionals and Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Conference was held, Professor Kasten, a Danish academician, joined in this project. The team is committed to building a world-class organization engaged in scientific research, education and gene transformation in the park to make research on molecular genetic mechanism for degenerative changes of cells, tissues and organs and seek for any effective therapeutic method for degenerative diseases of human beings to prolong human life.
(II) A doctoral scientific research team for BGI Ocean Gene Bank
It is led by Dr. Liu Xin, Executive Dean of Qingdao Huada Gene Research Institute and a part-time professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. So far, it has published more than 30 papers on international academic journals. In 2018, the team’s papers with influential factors of more than 20 scores accounted for more than 50% of the total papers in Qingdao. This team is geared towards building the largest-scale and most intelligentized high-throughput sequencing R&D platform and life science industry incubation cluster in Northern China.
(III) A doctoral scientific research team for resistant biotechnology of Qingyuan
It is led by Prof. Li Huarong, a doctor of entomology of Kansas State University, the winner of the first prize of the Presidential Awards from the 50th International Annual Meeting of the Entomologogical Society of America, the winner of the third prize of National Science & Technology Progress Award, and R&D director of Qingyuan Biotech. Between 2008 and 2018, a total of 14 kinds of new herbicides were approved globally, among which 2 kinds were independently developed by Qingyuan.
(IV) Deutsch-Chinesische Institut für angewandte Forschung und Promotion (“IFP”)
It is a Sino-German intelligent technology and talent cultivation technology team led by 9 German academicians and participated by several top-level talents. It will offer world-class intelligent technology solutions and develop a joint doctoral training program to provide top-level technologies and talents for Qingdao West Coast New Area, and even the whole country. Prof. Axel Kuhn, a German academician, serves as the Dean for the German side, while Prof. Fang Dianjun, an expert under the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, serves as the Dean for the Chinese side.
(V) SiEn (Qingdao) Integrated Circuits Co., Ltd.
In SiEn (Qingdao) Integrated Circuits Co., Ltd., there is a doctoral team for integrated circuit production and design led by Dr. Zhang Rujing, “the Father of Semiconductor in China”. So far, the team has had 458 core members (including 98 from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China, and foreign countries), including 29 doctors and 142 postgraduates; and 20% of whom have more than 20 years of experience in R&D, production and management of semiconductor industry and boast about 1,000 patents. This team will develop the first cooperative integrated circuit manufacturing project in Qingdao, China, to fill the gap in this aspect in Shandong Province.
(VI) Siemens Innovation Center
It is led by one of global top 10 scientists of Siemens, an excellent doctor with more than 200 patents for invention in China and U.S. It has established the only “industry 4.0” R&D center in the park and outside Germany. The project team is committed to R&D and innovation in such areas of intelligent manufacturing, robot, modern logistics, big data application, information security, smart city, etc. And, it also aims to introduce global cutting-edge digitalization and automation technologies and establish an innovation platform, from virtual perspective to real perspective and from concepts to solutions, for intelligent manufacturing industry in China.
(VII) Qingdao Haier Institute of Industrial Intelligence Co., Ltd.
It is committed to developing intelligent manufacturing projects, building Haier’s COSMOPlat platform and achieving supply-side full-chain integration. This platform was included in the Achievements Exhibition held during the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and rated as a national high-tech industry standardization pilot project. Currently, it has 32 members, including 18 with doctor’s and master’s degrees or above. This team is led by Gao Baowei, former person in-charge of research project under 863 Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the winner of the second prize of Science & Technology Award from China Occupational Safety and Health Association, the special prize of Science & Technology Award from China National Coal Association, and other major awards.
