A Forerunner in China’s Opening Up
Qingdao Japan “International Business Club” launched

Qingdao Japan “International Parlour” launch event and move-in projects signing ceremony were held at Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone on May 19, 2020. Wang Qingxian, Party secretary of Qingdao, addressed the ceremony, Cheng Yonghua, former Chinese ambassador to Japan, Shi Mingde, former Chinese ambassador to Germany and Igawahara Masaru, the Consul General of Japan in Qingdao, attended the ceremony. Wang Qingxian and Igawahara Masaru unveiled the plaque for Qingdao Japan “International Business Club”.

In his speech, Wang Qingxian said construction of the international business club is an important measure of us to implement the important instructions and requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping on expanding opening-up to the world at a higher level and creating a new international cooperation platform for “Belt and Road”. Close to Japan across the sea, Qingdao keeps a close person-to-person, economic and trade relation with Japan, which has become a paradigm of local cooperation between China and Japan.

Qingdao Japan “International Business Club”is to serve as a platform integrating the functions of exhibition, publicity, roadshow, matchmaking and transaction for the Japanese enterprises and chambers of commerce that intend to enter the Chinese market and the Chinese enterprises and local government agencies that want to access the Japanese market, said Wang Qingxian, adding that the international business club will provide supporting services like legal affairs, audit, accounting, visa and daily life.


China and Japan are close neighbors and the construction of Qingdao Japan “International Business Club” will set up a new bridge for the cooperation and friendship between the two countries. Mr. Wang noted, and he hoped more Japanese enterprises, people and institutions to visit Qingdao to promote cooperation with Qingdao in trade, culture, education, tourism, science and investment and Qingdao municipal government will maintain a good business environment featuring marketization, rule of law and internationalization.


Igawahara Masaru, the Consul General of Japan in Qingdao, Matsumura Yoshiko, chief representative of JETRO Qingdao Office and executive of Japanese project addressed the ceremony.


At the ceremony, the online parlour of Qingdao Japan “International Parlour” was launched at the same time. The agreements for 3 projects including Ridra legal consultation center were inked; 17 key projects with total investment of 3.5 billion Yuan like Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi strategic cooperation project were signed on site.
Located in Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Area, Qingdao Japan “International Parlour” has an area of 10.6 square kilometers and it includes an “international parlour” and Sino- Japan (Qingdao) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Area.


Xue Qingguo, vice mayor of Qingdao, presided over the ceremony, Zhu Hua, Sun Yonghong and Zhou An attended the event. Other officials from relevant provincial and municipal government agencies, executives from ANA Qingdao Branch and Japan- China Local Dialogue and Communication Association attended the aforesaid event.
