Introduction

Covering a land area of about 140,000m2, D-Zone Sino-German Creative Design Base focuses on bringing together creative design masters and outstanding creative design enterprises from different German states, expanding cultural exchange between China and Germany, stimulating creative potential of designers and enterprises, and incubating startups. D-Zone will serve the exhibition and development of German industrial design, architectural planning and design, and creative design, as well as creative development of music, art creation, book, and modern media industry. D-Zone will become a comprehensive  international exchange demonstration project,  integrating creation, exhibition, trade, and cultural and artistic activities of creative design industry, with the end goal of growing into an influential Sino-German Creative Design Base in Asia.

D-Zone was planned and designed by a German designer, with fully respect to the original terrain. The site was originally a wasteland with several small villages, and In the design, green space and the square were flexibly in line with the natural slope of the land, retaining the original gully and river system. Besides, the designer arranged the whole layout based on the terrain, forming a unique and well-arranged landscape. More than 60% of the original terrain and texture has been protected.

I. Project Positioning

Phase I of D-zone covers a land area of 103,000 m2, with a total investment of about 330 million yuan and 8 individual buildings and 1 combined container house have been built in this area. D-zone is positioned as a platform attracting German creative design masters, pooling creative industries, stimulating innovation of creative designers and enterprises, incubating startups, and facilitating cultural exchange between China and Germany. It will focus on industrial design, architectural planning and design, and creative design, as well as creative development of music, art creation, book, and modern media industry, featuring a comprehensive international exchange demonstration project, integrating creative design, cultural and artistic activities.

II. Progress

This year, centering on the initiative of investment promotion and talent recruitment of the district, we have adjusted the carrier function of D-Zone, highlighting the occupancy rate and practicability. Specifically, Decai Group will settle in by buying an individual building. 5 other companies, including Inspiring Learning (UK) and  City Brain Investment Development Company have settled in. In addition, some activities and meetings, including the Third Meeting of the Sino-German Ecopark International Advisory Committee, the Liverpool City Exhibition, and educational camp programs, were hosted here. The supporting service center of the Zone, which has been put into operation, has a Chinese restaurant, a western restaurant, and a café.

Companies Settled in D-Zone

1. Qingdao Sino-UK Creative Design Co., Ltd. Relying on the resources of DC HD International Design, this project will actively attract British royal designers to gather a group of first-class design talents who lead the international design trend and have international experience, providing customers with consultancy and services related with BIM design technology.

2. Inspiring Learning (UK). Founded in 1980, it is the largest educational camp program provider in UK, providing the best educational camp programs for teenagers in UK and across the world, and serving 200,000 teenagers from all over the world every year. This project will introduce the best educational camp programs from UK to China. With world-class educational camp and highly localized operation mode, it is expected to become the No. 1 educational camp program provider in China that offers in-depth experience of both education and lifestyle for youngsters.

3. Sino-German Institute of Intelligent Technology  (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. It is an intelligent technology sharing platform with the support of the government, combining technology application research and doctoral talents cultivation, and also the first one of its kind in China which is jointly guided by German Academy of Science and Engineering and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, and established. The Institute will build a top innovation team with academicians of the German Academy of Science and Engineering at its core, give full play to the professional strengths and influence of specially appointed scientists and researchers, and build a world-beating ecosystem featuring high-end talent training and research on advanced industrial technology.

4. Passive House Research Center Co., Ltd. The project will set up a passive house research center, striving to be an authoritative institution of passive house technology research and development in China which will focus on passive house technology promotion, project design consulting, certification and training, project management, and industrial chain product testing in China. In the future, it will build a full industrial chain of passive buildings and create new technologies and models of passive house development.
