Qingdao Haier Institute of Industrial Intelligence Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”) is the first industrial intelligence research institute in China’s household appliance industry, established by Haier Group to support continuous and profound exploration and enhancement for its inter-connected factory mode and make comprehensive breakthroughs in terms of technology, mode and innovation. The Institute’s mission is to “integrate ecological resources, develop technology and enable application for industrial intelligence” and it is positioned as “global leading industrial intelligence research institute”. The Institute is also a high-end think tank for intelligent manufacturing, a booster for implementation of achievements of industrial Internet platforms, and a platform for gathering of ecological resources.
The Institute has long accumulated core technologies in intelligent manufacturing. It has directed formulation of 25 international/national standards, obtained more than 60 patents for invention/software copyrights, and won “High-Tech Manufacturing Innovation Award” from Gartner and “National Enterprise Management Innovation Award” in succession. Particularly in terms of formulation of relevant intelligent manufacturing standards, it has been involved in compiling 2 IEC white papers (leading the compiling of IEC AI White Paper and participating in the compiling of IEC Future Factory White Paper), 4 international standards (including IEEE Large-Scale Customization International Standard, and IEC Industrial Automation Equipment and System Reliability Standard), and 19 national industrial standards for intelligent manufacturing (including large-scale customization, intelligent manufacturing, interconnection, Internet of Things and other standards).
In recent years, the Institute has successively undertaken more than 30 national projects (such as National Key R&D Program, Intergovernmental International Cooperation in Science and Technology Innovation Program, the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Demonstration Base and Industrial Transformation & Upgrading Program under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Core Manufacturing Competitiveness Improvement Program under National Development and Reform Commission) and researched and developed COSMOPlat, the first industrial Internet platform involving full-process user participation in the world and the first national industrial Internet demonstration platform in China. COSMOPlat, centralized on user experience, has fundamentally changed traditional large-scale manufacturing mode in the whole process and system, from user interaction to experience iteration and to lifetime user, into a large-scale customization mode and enabled continuous optimization and upgrading of customization. COSMOPlat was designated to create lifetime value for any user and maximize the value of each stakeholder through building a new ecosystem for win-win cooperation between users, enterprises and resources. COSMOPlat sets an example in developing new forms, new modes and new growth drivers in “Internet + advanced manufacturing”.
As of H1 2019, by virtue of technological innovation and R&D, COSMOPlat platform app has accumulatively covered 10 industries and been linked to 110,000 sets of industrial equipment; accumulatively formed 1,294 industrial mechanism models or micro-services, developed 2,263 industrial apps, received 210,000 subscriptions each year and served 42,000 enterprises; accumulatively attracted 952 active users and, building a community for those developers; accumulatively developed 132 platform application programming interfaces and software development kits; accumulatively formed 300 test cases; and accumulatively accomplished application verification in 20 industrial enterprises.
The Institute plays an important role in supporting technological innovation of COSMOPlat. It focuses on research on advanced intelligent manufacturing, network engineering, digitalization project, big data application, IOT and AI technologies, integrates ecological resources, and makes breakthrough in key generic technology in industries, to provide technical support for enterprises’ intelligent manufacturing transformation and upgrading.
