On the afternoon of August 29, 2019, over 400 new students arrived at Qingdao Sino-German Campus of Qingdao University of Science and Technology for registration. It was expressively indicated in the Implementation Program of the Free Trade Experimental Zone of Shandong Province to “support the cooperative management of schools of high level in Qingdao area”. Sino-German International Cooperation Zone (Qingdao Campus) of Qingdao University of Science and Technology became the first Sino-German high-level cooperative school management project of Shandong Province after the approval of the establishment of the Free Trade Experimental Zone of Shandong Province.

As scheduled, 860 new students of Year 2019 of this campus and the students of Year 2017 and Year 2018 of Sino-German Engineering Institute planning to study inGermanywill check in this campus. Up to 5:00 of this afternoon, over 400 new students completed their registration formality. It is known that the Overseas Studying Training Base Project of Overseas Studying Service Center of Ministry of Education plans to recruit 200 new students in 2019 and all the recruited students will check in this campus.

Sino-German Campus of Qingdao University of Science and Technology is the only university campus in Qingdao area of the Free Trade Experimental Zone of Shandong Province. The campus is located in Sino-German Ecological Park and planned to cover about 67 ha. including 43 ha. of building land and 24 ha. of green land for a total investment of about 2.5 billion RMB to accommodate 12,000 students. The works of Phase I were designed by Tongji University cooperating with a German design institution strictly as per German ecological, environmental protection, safety and intelligent standards. The works were started in December of 2017 and accomplished in July of 2019. Phase I of the campus is composed by a multifunctional teaching building and logistics buildings for a total building area of over 40,000 m2 to meet the needs of education, teaching and living of about 3,000 teachers and students.

Sino-German Campus of Qingdao University of Science and Technology adopts the “double-campus” management mode and is composed by German Campus and Qingdao Campus. German Campus is located in the university park of Paderborn ofGermanyand was inaugurated on November 13, 2018. Qingdao Campus includes Sino-German Engineering Institute, Sino-German Technology Institute, Overseas Studying Training Base of Ministry of Education and other faculties, departments and institutions. About 10 Sino-German cooperation research institutes or research centers will be built here gradually. In Qingdao Campus, 6 specialties were established, including Chemical Engineering and Technology, Composite Materials and Engineering, Commercial English, Computer Application Technology, Industrial Process Automation Technology, Macromolecular Materials and Engineering Technology. The graduation certificate and diploma of Qingdao University of Science and Technology will be issued to the graduates. The students participating in relevant Sino-German cooperation projects will get the academic certificate and diploma of corresponding German university if they meet relevant conditions.
