March: Car Sales Fell, while New Energy Vehicle Sales Grew
While passenger vehicle sales in March fell significantly by 11.7% compared with the data of the previous year, suppliers of vehicles equipped with alternative drive systems, i.e. New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), reported a significant increase in sales. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), sales of new energy vehicles in March were 445,000 with a year-on-year increase of 137.6%. BYD, China's largest new energy vehicle maker, delivered more than 104,000 vehicles to dealers in March, while Tesla delivered 65,800. New energy vehicles accounted for about 30% of all passenger vehicle sales in March.

Shandong: Foreign Trade Achievement Slightly Higher than the National Average
According to data from the Provincial General Administration of Customs, in the first quarter of 2022, the foreign trade of Shandong increased by 13.7% on a year-on-year basis, slightly higher than that of the whole country, which was 13.0%. In the first quarter, the import and export of goods was 710.7 billion yuan, accounting for about 7.5% of the total foreign trade of China.

Hydrogen Plan Launched
To achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, China is ramping up hydrogen power generation. On March 23, the government released the corresponding development plan for the next five years. According to this, by 2025, the hydrogen power generation capacity will reach 100,000 to 200,000 tons, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1 to 2 tons per year.
